Two and a half days, lots of donations and helping hands - it all adds up to another weekend of ministry.

Big Sale - Big Thanks!

Friday, June 29 and Saturday, June 30 we held our annual Garage Sale fundraiser at Care Net. We started collecting items for the garage sale the month before, and were blessed by many nice things.

Thursday evening, set up began. We raised canopies over tables, hauled in the furniture and other items for sale, started sorting them onto tables and did our best to prepare for Friday.

The sale techinically ran from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. However, when we arrived back at the center at 8 a.m. Friday, there were already people lined up to shop - and shoppers were non-stop through the end of the day Saturday. We had 3 trucks with trailers to deliver larger items for those that needed delivery. We had young, strong backs to lift and carry items to vehicles. We had others continuing to sort and put out more items as space was made available on the tables. We also incorporated a bake sale this year, with pies, cupcakes, and breads for sale.

One of the best features of this sale as that no items are priced. A few of the pricier items have a suggested minimum donation, but nothing is priced. Each shopper gives what they feel is fair for the items they purchase. "Take what you need - give what you can." While some people do take advantage of this, others are very generous. When shoppers ask for prices, it also gives us an opportunity to let them know this is a fundraiser for Care Net. Then we also get to share what services Care Net offers to our community.

Each of the past years we have held the garage sale, God has used it for ministry purposes. This year, while we don't have a specific story to share, there were a number of people that said they were so glad we had this sale each year. They look forward to being able to get the things they need yet can't afford. We are so greatful that God uses us to meet the needs of our neighbors and community this way.

Thank you to all who donated items for the sale. We would like to specifically thank all those that came out to help over the weekend:

Many events are happening this summer for Care Net. See how you can help out and be a part of this ministry.

UPDATE: 2 dates in the newsletter that was mailed are incorrect. The correct dates for Downtown Days are August 3-4 and the correct date for Lakerpalooza is August 24. Sorry for the confusion.

Highway clean up - Doing our part for our community.

Care Net will be picking up our segment of highway along I-75 on Saturday, May 5. We will meet at Care Net for a quick safety video and to collect safety vests, trash bags, etc. Then we will drive out to the work site. If we can get 12 people to help out, our short 1.5 mile stretch will look great in a jiffy!

Roland Warren as "speaker," dinner catered by Karl's, and exciting information to get you involved with Care Net!

Spring Banquet 2018 - Firm Foundations

Care Net Pregnancy Center's Annual Spring Banquet fundraising dinner is Friday, April 13, 2018 at Sault Wesleyan Church, 3556 Saymour Rd., Sault Ste. Marie.

Roland Warren's video presentation, given at the 2017 Care Net National Conference, will be the main speech for this evening. Roland Warren is the CEO of the Care Net National organization. In his presentation, Roland gives a solid explanation for why Care Net Pregnancy Centers operate the way we do, and the reason why we, as para-church ministries, need local churches and individuals involved in helping to minister to women and men facing pregnancy decisions.

Please RSVP by March 30 by calling Care Net at 906-635-1103 or emailing cnpcofeup@gmail.com. Use this fun event to invite friends and neighbors that might be interested in supporting Care Net Pregnancy Center of the EUP.

Care Net asks you to join us in a 24-Hour Prayer Vigil to cover the EUP in prayer for the value of life and religious freedoms as the Supreme Court prepares to hear arguments in the case of NIFLA v. Becerra.

24-Hour Prayer Vigil

On March 20th, the Supreme Court of the United States will hear arguments in the case of NIFLA vs. Becerra. This case is pivotal to the religious freedoms of pregnancy centers in California, but has great implications in Hawaii and Illinois, where similar laws have already been passed. Many other states have similar legislation in the process of being presented to their legislatures.

We ask you to join us in prayer for this case – and the future of our country – beginning at 5:00 p.m. March 2 through 5:00 p.m. March 3. Sign up for the time that best suits you, whether fifteen minutes or 2 hours. Then, pray in your home or at your church.

Call the Center at 906-635-1103 or email cnpcofeup@gmail.com to add your name to the prayer schedule.

More information regarding the legal case of NIFLA vs. Becerra can be found at www.nifla.org. A list of prayer items can be found on CNPC's blog page at www.eupforlife.org/TheLatest.

Please join us in bathing the EUP in prayer for the value of life and for religious freedoms.
